Have you considered the possibility that Roiphe wants "to insert sex into every situation" b/c it's part of the way she carries on her anti-feminist crusade, or whatever it is she's doing? Feminism = anti-sex is her equation, apparently. It's an old, stupid line with rather little that is puzzling about it. So I don't really understand why you profess to be puzzled. (And your characterization of male teenagers as lacking interest in sex would strike many readers as rather strange, I think. I guess to get the reference I'd need to be familiar w Apatow's movies, wh/ I'm not, though I've prob. read something about them.)
